Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 34, of Baguio City, Philippines and Aziz Pahrudinov, 29, of Dagestan, Russia will compete in the lightweight division at “ONE: Reign of Kings” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila Philippine on July 27, 2018. It will be the eighth bout of the evening.

With a professional mixed martial arts record of 20 wins and 0 loss, Pahrudinov is considered as one of the toughest Russian lightweights in MMA. Out of his 20 victories in eight years of prizefighting, 13 came by way of submission while 6 were by knockout.

On the other hand, Folayang is a former ONE Lightweight World Champion and he has 19 wins and 6 losses. While the Team Lakay fighter respects Pahrudinov’s experience and accomplishments, he is confident that he will give his opponent some problems in the striking department.

“He does not have many weaknesses,” Folayang said of Pahrudinov. “But I would like to test his striking. Let’s see if he can keep up with me on the feet.”

“This is going to be a good, exciting fight and I am excited,” the Team Lakay fighter added. “I will do my best to keep every advantage and win.”

According to Folayang, his familiarity with Russian mixed martial artists will play a pivotal factor in the three-round lightweight encounter with Pahrudinov, who is a ONE Championship debutante. The latter will be the third Russian fighter to compete against the Team Lakay fighter in the ONE Championship cage.

“He is another tough Russian opponent with the typical Russian style, aggressive and calculated,” Folayang said of Pahrudinov. “He has great wrestling and solid striking, and excellent all-around skills.”

Folayang believes that a convincing triumph over Pahrudinov will keep him relevant in the stacked lightweight division of ONE Championship. According to the Filipino MMA superstar, it is hard to face fighters like his Russian opponent.

“You have to be on your toes the entire bout,” Folayang explained. “Get too close, and there is the threat of the takedown. I will be prepared to face this style once again.”
