Featuring 11 bouts, “ONE: Reign of Kings” is the third of the four ONE Championship events scheduled in the Philippines in 2018. On the fight card were eight mixed martial arts bouts and three matches under the promotion’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.

The main event of the evening was an MMA bout between Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Vietnam and Australia and Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 30, of the Philippines. They competed for the ONE Interim Bantamweight World Championship.

Representing Team Lakay, Belingon derailed Nguyen’s goal to become a three-division world champion by outclassing the reigning ONE Featherweight and Lightweight World Champion with his striking superiority. With his hometown crowd cheering behind him, the Team Lakay fighter picked Nguyen apart in the stand-up, jolting the two-division titleholder with stunning left hooks and perfectly-executed spinning back kicks.

In the end, all three judges scored the bout in favor of Belingon to win by unanimous decision after an intense five-round affair, bringing home the ONE Interim Bantamweight World Championship. He is expected to face reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 38, of Brazil, who was present during the “ONE: Reign of Kings” fight night.

The title unification bout for the bantamweight division of ONE Championship will be a rematch. Fernandes and Belingon’s first encounter took place at “ONE: Dynasty of Champions 5” on January 23, 2016 at the Helong Stadium in Changsha, Hunan, China.

Fernandes submitted Belingon via kimura at “ONE: Dynasty of Champions 5.” On March 24, 2018, the reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion defeated Nguyen via split decision at “ONE: Iron Will” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

By capturing the ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion belt at “ONE: Reign of Kings,” Belingon improved his professional mixed martial arts record to 19 wins and 5 losses. On the other hand, Nguyen now has 11 wins and 3 losses while Fernandes has 22 wins and 3 losses.
