For the first time in the history of mixed martial arts, an MMA event hosted by a global organization took place in Africa. This was courtesy of Bahrain-based MMA promotion Brave Combat Federation, which hosted “Brave 14” in Morocco on August 14, 2018.

Featuring nine bouts of the evening, “Brave 14” took place at the Omnisports Indoor Club of Tangier in Tangier, Morocco on August 18, 2018. In the fourth bout of the evening, Ikram Aliskerov, 25, of Makhachkala, Russia faced Joey Berkenbosch, 35, of Amsterdam, Netherlands in the middleweight division.

The referee put a stop to the middleweight contest between Aliskerov and Berkenbosch at 2:15 of Round 1. The Russian fighter knocked out his Dutch opponent.

The match between Aliskerov and Berkenbosch was the only bout in the middleweight division at “Brave 14.” Brave CF currently has no reigning champion in the division.

Winning at “Brave 14” makes Aliskerov still an undefeated fighter. Beating Berkenbosch improved the Russian fighter’s professional MMA record to 6 wins and 0 loss.

“Brave 14” marked Aliskerov’s fourth Brave CF bout. The opponents he defeated in the promotion prior to Berkenbosch were Russian fighter Rufat Asadov and South African contenders Jeremy “The Pitbull” Smith and Chad “Superman” Hanekom.

Aliskerov was the first fighter to defeat Berkenbosch. “Brave 14” marked the Brave CF debut of the Dutch contender, who had 3 wins and 0 loss before joining the promotion, who are both from Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.

When Aliskerov made his Brave CF debut at “Brave 6: Kazakhstan” on April 29, 2017, he submitted Asadov via guillotine choke. Aliskerov knocked out Smith via punches at “Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions” on November 17, 2017 and defeated Hanekom via decision at “Brave 10: The Kingdom Rises” on March 2, 2018.

In the main event of “Brave 14,” Brave CF Lightweight Champion Ottman “Bulldozer” Azaitar, 28, of Germany competed in the welterweight division. The German-Moroccan fighter knocked out Danijel “Vitez: Kokora, 28, of Deliblato, Serbia at 0:32 of Round 1.

In the co-main event, Jeremy “JBC” Kennedy, 25, of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada faced Danyel Pilo, 30, Lavagna, Genoa, Italy in the featherweight division. The Canadian fighter knocked out his Italian opponent at 2:02 of Round 1.
