For the first time in the history of mixed martial arts, an MMA event hosted by a global organization took place in Africa. This was courtesy of Bahrain-based MMA promotion Brave Combat Federation, which hosted “Brave 14” in Morocco on August 14, 2018.
Featuring nine bouts of the evening, “Brave 14” took place at the Omnisports Indoor Club of Tangier in Tangier, Morocco on August 18, 2018. In the co-main event, Jeremy “JBC” Kennedy, 25, of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada faced Danyel Pilo, 30, Lavagna, Genoa, Italy in the featherweight division.
The referee put a stop to the featherweight bout between Kennedy and Pilo at 2:02 of Round 1. The Canadian fighter knocked out his Italian opponent.
It was a redemptive win for Kennedy. The Canadian fighter was an undefeated fighter from 2013 to 2017.
Before joining Brave CF, Kennedy competed in three bouts in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He defeated Rony “Jason” Mariano Bezerra, 34, of Brazil at “UFC Fight Night 106” on March 11, 2017 and Kyle “Crash” Bochniak, 31, of the United States at “UFC on Fox 25” on July 22, 2017 both via unanimous decision.
On February 10, 2018, Kennedy had his first loss as a professional MMA fighter. He was knocked out via punches by Alexander “The Great” Volkanovski, 29, of Australia at “UFC 221.”
Winning at “Brave 14” improved Kennedy’s professional MMA record to 12 wins and 1 loss. On the other hand, Pilo’s record was downgraded to 10 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws.
The match between Kennedy and Pilo was the only featherweight bout at “Brave 14.” Currently reigning as the Brave CF Featherweight Champion is Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame, 24, of Montpellier, France.
In the main event of “Brave 14,” Brave CF Lightweight Champion Ottman “Bulldozer” Azaitar, 28, of Germany competed in the welterweight division. The German-Moroccan fighter knocked out Danijel “Vitez: Kokora, 28, of Deliblato, Serbia at 0:32 of Round 1.
