Reigning ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, 40, of the Philippines attended the official face-off of “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” at the CHAR Bar & Grill located at Level 30 of the Indigo Hotel in Shanghai, China. He was a special guest and not one of the ONE Championship athletes set to compete in the event.
Vera has been attending ONE Championship events recently. On July 27, 2018, he was one of the reigning champions who watched the “ONE: Reign of Kings” fight night live at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

During the press conference in Tokyo, Vera challenged two-division world champion “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang, 33, of Myanmar for his ONE Light Heavyweight World Championship title. ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong confirmed that the Burmese champ, who is also the reigning ONE Middleweight World Champion, is interested in facing Vera.
Aside from Vera, ONE Championship’s chairman in China Hua Fung Teh also attended the “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” face-off. He said, “ONE Championship remains dedicated to delivering a world-class, authentic martial arts experience right here to the fans in China.”
“As the new Chairman of ONE Championship in China, it is my duty to make sure our fans here receive the absolute best of martial arts,” Hua added. “We have an amazing card planned for everyone this Saturday evening.”
Taking place at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai on September 8, 2018, “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” will be headlined by reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of China and Samara “Marituba” Santos, 25, of Brazil.
