Angela Lee vs Xiong Jing Nan at ‘ONE: Heart of the Lion’ in Singapore

After defending the ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion belt for the second time, “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of Shandong, China is expected to face Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, 22, of Singapore next. The two will headline “ONE: Heart of the Lion” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore on November 9, 2018.

On January 20, 2018, Xiong became the inaugural ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion by defeating Tiffany “No Chill” Teo, 28, of Singapore at “ONE: Kings of Courage.” The Chinese champ knocked out her Singaporean challenger via punches.

On June 23, 2018, Xiong successfully defended the title for the first time. She defeated her challenger Laura “The Gladiadora” Balin, 38, of Argentina via unanimous decision at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power.”

On September 8, 2018, Xiong successfully defended the title for the second time. She knocked out her challenger Samara “Marituba” Santos, 25, of Para, Brazil at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China.

Prior to the “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” fight night, ONE Championship announced that Lee will be the next challenger of the winner of the championship bout. If she wins, she will become the organization’s third two-division world champion and first ever female champion to simultaneously reign in two divisions.

Still an undefeated fighter, Lee has been reigning as the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion since May 6, 2016. She has successfully defended the title three times.

“ONE: Heart of the Lion” marks the first time Lee is competing for a second division title. The other bouts on the card have yet to be announced.

Lee and Xiong are the only two female world champions of ONE Championship. Currently, the organization has eight male reigning world champions.

By winning at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon,” Xiong improved her professional mixed martial arts record to 13 wins and 1 loss. Lee’s father Ken Lee and her younger brother Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 20, were in the audience witnessing how the Chinese champ successfully defended her title from her Brazilian challenger.

In the seventh bout of the evening, Christian lost to Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly of the Philippines via disqualification due to illegal move. Ken was in his son’s corner.
