On September 22, 2018, “The Funky Drummer” Fabrice Fairtex Delannon, 36, of French Guiana won at “ONE: Conquest of Heroes,” earning his first victory in ONE Super Series. It was the second time he competed in the striking-only league of ONE Championship.
“ONE: Conquest of Heroes” took place at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia. In the fourth bout of the evening, Delannon competed in a Muay Thai contest against Yodpanomrung “The Lightning Knee” Jitmuangnon, 24, of Thailand in the bantamweight division.
After three three-minute rounds, the Muay Thai bantamweight bout between Delannon and Jitmuangnon was left to the hands of the judges. In the end, referee Atsushi Onari raised the hand of the contender from French Guiana as the winner via split decision.
It was a redemptive win for Delannon. When he made his ONE Super Series debut on June 23, 2018 at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” at the Studio City Event Center in Macau, China, he was knocked out by Petchmorrakot Wor. Sangprapai, 24, of Thailand at 0:43 minutes of round 2 in a Muay Thai contest at a catchweight of 67kg.
There were only two ONE Super Series bouts at “ONE: Conquest of Heroes,” which marked Jitmuangnon’s ONE Super Series debut. The other striking-only match on the card was a kickboxing match between Sergio Wielzen of Suriname and Rodtang Jitmuangnon of Thailand in the flyweight division.
Fighting out of Jakarta, Stefer “The Lion” Rahardian, 31, competed against Peng Xue Wen, 21, of Zhongshan, Guangdong, China in the strawweight division in the co-main event of the evening. The Chinese contender won via unanimous decision.
In the main event, Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 22, of Baguio City, Philippines challenged reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito, 34, of Chiba, Japan for the second time. The Filipino challenger dethroned the Japanese champion via unanimous decision.
