California’s Aspen Ladd earns 2nd UFC win at ‘UFC 229’

Fighting out of Folsom, California, United States, Aspen Ladd, 23, maintained her undefeated record as sh won in her most recent bout in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. It was his second victory in the promotion.

Featuring 12 mixed martial arts matches, the UFC held “UFC 229” at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, United States on October 6, 2018. In the fifth bout of the evening, Ladd competed in the women’s bantamweight division against Tonya “Triple Threat” Evinger, 37, of Odessa, Missouri, United States.

Referee Chris Tognoni put a stop to the bantamweight bout between Ladd and Evinger at 3:26 in the first round. The fighter from California knocked out her opponent from Missouri via punches.

“UFC 229” marked Ladd’s second UFC bout. When she made her promotional debut at “UFC Fight Night 118” on October 21, 2017, she knocked out Lina “Elbow Queen” Lansberg, 36, of Malmo, Scania, Sweden via punches at 2:33 in the second round.

By defeating Evinger at “UFC 229,” Ladd improved her professional MMA record to 7 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Evinger’s record downgraded to 19 wins and 7 losses.

Before joining the UFC, Ladd was an undefeated fighter in the Invicta Fighting Championships. She defeated Ana Carolina Vidal, Amanda Bobby Cooper, Kelly McGill-Velasco, Jessica Hoy and Sijara Eubanks in the MMA promotion for female fighters.

In the co-main event of “UFC 229,” Tony “El Cucy” Ferguson, 34, of Oxnard, California, United States and Anthony “Showtime” Pettis, 31, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States competed in the lightweight division. After two five-minute rounds, the Californian contender was declared the winner via technical knockout corner stoppage.

In the main event, Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, 30, of Dagestan, Russia defended his UFC Lightweight Championship belt for the first time. Former champion Conor “Notorious” McGregor, 30, of Dublin, Ireland challenged the Dagestani reigning champion.

Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor via rear-naked choke at 3:06 in the fourth round. Watch the “UFC 229” post-fight conference here:
