Dentsu content business design center director Shuntaro Tanaka attended the “ONE: Heart of the Lion” press conference at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center in Singapore on November 7, 2018. During the event, the company announced its partnership with ONE Championship to launch the largest global eSports Championship Series in Asia called ONE eSports.
“We are pleased to announce this partnership with ONE Championship as we look to further develop the rapidly growing eSports industry in Japan and the rest of Asia,” Tanaka stated. “We recognize good synergy between martial arts and eSports, making this a fantastic opportunity for both ONE Championship and Dentsu to participate in this growing segment in Asia, as well as leverage multiple content platforms for additional sales and business opportunities.”
Tanaka said ONE Championship has been a terrific partner for Dentsu. He added that the largest global advertising agency in Japan is happy to move forward with the Singapore-based martial arts organization in their ONE eSports venture.
The dedicated marketing partner of the Japan eSports Union (JeSU), Dentsu will be responsible for harvesting Japanese game developers’ desire to expand in eSports across Asia via ONE eSports, which will showcase blockbuster game titles from around the world. The joint venture will be officially introduced in 2019.
ONE Championship will have 30 martial events in 2019. The events will take place in iconic Asian cities including Singapore, Bangkok of Thailand, Tokyo of Japan, Seoul of South Korea, Jakarta of Indonesia, Shanghai and Beijing of China, Manila of the Philippines, Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia and Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam.
ONE eSports will leverage Dentsu and Dentsu Aegis as its preferred marketing agencies for strategic marketing formulation and sponsorships around the world. Dentsu will help to lead ONE eSports’ efforts to hold events across Japan.
