New Jersey vs Missouri: Michael Trizano, Luis Peña fight at ‘UFC Fight Night 139’ in Colorado

The Ultimate Fighting Championship held “UFC Fight Night 139” at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, United States on November 10, 2018. The fight card featured 12 mixed martial arts matches, three of which were female matches.

Two American MMA fighters faced each other in the seventh bout of the evening. Both competing as undefeated fighters, Michael “The Lone Wolf” Trizano, 26, of Ramsey, New Jersey, United States competed against Luis “Violent Bob Ross” Peña, 25, of Saint Charles, Missouri, United States in the lightweight division.

Tirzano is training out of Tiger Schulmann’s Mixed Martial Arts in Elmword Park, New Jersey. He has been competing professionally since 2016.

The New Jersey native competed in Bellator MMA before joining the UFC. “UFC Fight Night 139” marked his first official UFC bout after his win against Joe “Skeltor” Giannetti, 23, of Whitman, Massachusetts, United States in the Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale.

Peña was born in Naples, Italy on July 5, 1993. He is training at American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, California.

The Italian-American MMA fighter has been competing professionally since 2016. “UFC Fight Night 139” marked his first official UFC bout after his win against Richie Smullen, 27, of Ireland in the Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale.

Fight Result

The lightweight bout between Trizano and Peña was the first bout in the main card of “UFC Fight Night 139.” After three five-minute rounds, it was left in the hands of the judges, who scored it 28-29, 29-28, 30-27.

In the end, referee Tom Johnson raised the hand of Trizano, who was declared the winner via split decision. It marked the first professional MMA loss of Peña, who now has 5 wins and 1 loss.

By beating Peña, Trizano maintained his undefeated record. The New Jersey native now has 8 wins and 0 loss.

“UFC Fight Night 139” Main Events

In the co-main event of the evening, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, 35, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States and Mike “Platinum” Perry, 27, of Orlando, Florida, United States battled it out in the welterweight division. The fighter from Albuquerque submitted his opponent from Orlando via armbar at 4:46 of Round 1.

In the main event, “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung, 31, of Seoul, South Korea and Yair “El Pantera” Rodriguez, 26, of Chicago, Illinois, United States competed in the featherweight division. The American contender knocked out his Korean opponent via elbow at 4:59 of Round 5.
