Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 35, of Baguio City, Philippines will make an attempt to redeem the ONE Lightweight World Championship at “ONE: Conquest of Champions.” Among his Team Lakay teammates who will be there to support him during the fight night is reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 28.

ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Conquest of Champions” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on November 23, 2018. In the co-main event of the evening, Folayang and Amir Khan, 24, of Singapore will compete for the vacant ONE Lightweight World Championship.

Folayang and Khan had their first face-off during the “ONE: Conquest of Champions” open workout at the Victory Sports Tower in Diliman, Quezon City, Metro Manila on November 16, 2018. Their second face-off took place  during the kick-off press conference at the City of Dreams Manila in Parañaque City, Metro Manilaon November 20, 2018.

After the press conference, I had a short interview with Eustaquio. I asked him about his prediction for the upcoming championship bout between Folayang and Khan.

“No doubt, 101 percent, Kuya (Big Brother) Edward will win this fight,” Eustaquio told me. “It’s going to be a landslide victory. It’s either he’s gonna knock (out) Amir Khan or it’s going to end up with a decision, a landslide decision.”

If Eustaquio predicts correctly, Folayang will hold the ONE Lightweight World Championship for the second time. Folayang first held the title  from November 11, 2016 to November 10, 2017.

On April 21, 2017, Folayang successfully defended the belt against Ev “E.T.” Ting, 29, of New Zealand and Malaysia at “ONE: Kings of Destiny” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. A year later in the same venue, the Filipino MMA superfighter lost the belt to Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam.

On September 28, 2018, Nguyen vacated the ONE Lightweight World Championship because he is unable to defend it due to an injury. He is still the reigning ONE Featherweight World Champion.

Aside from Eustaquio, two more ONE Championship world champions representing Team Lakay are expected to watch the “ONE: Conquest of Champions” fight night live namely ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 22, and ONE Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 31. Watch my full interview with Eustaquio here:
