ONE Championship flyweight Danny “The King” Kingad, 22, is very confident about the victory of former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 35, at “ONE: Conquest of Champions.” The two are both fighting out of Baguio City, Philippines and are representing Team Lakay.
“ONE: Conquest of Champions” will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on November 23, 2018. In the co-main event of the evening, Folayang will make an attempt to redeem the ONE Lightweight World Championship by defeating Amir Khan, 24, of Singapore.
Folayang and Khan had their first face-off during the “ONE: Conquest of Champions” open workout at the Victory Sports Tower in Diliman, Quezon City, Metro Manila on November 16, 2018. Their second face-off took place during the kick-off press conference on November 20, 2018 at the City of Dreams Manila in Parañaque City, Metro Manila.
After the press conference, I had a short interview with Kingad. I asked him about his prediction for the upcoming championship bout between Folayang and Khan.
Khan will suffer an injury during the bout, Kingad predicted. For Kingad, either Folayang will knock out Khan or the full five rounds will end in a unanimous decision in favor of his fellow Team Lakay fighter.
After losing the ONE Lightweight World Championship belt, Folayang conquered two previously undefeated Russian fighters from Dagestan. The Team Lakay fighter outperformed Kharun Atlangeriev, 26, and Aziz Pahrudinov, 29, with his striking game and will do same to Khan, if Kingad’s prediction turns into reality.
Both Atlangeriev and Pahrudinov lost to Folayang via unanimous decision. The Team Lakay fighter faced Atlangeriev at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” on May 18, 2018 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore and Pahrudinov at the “ONE: Reign of Kings” on July 27, 2018 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Including Kingad, several Team Lakay fighters are expected to watch “ONE: Conquest of Champions” live including ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 22, ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 29, and ONE Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 31. Meanwhile, watch my full interview with Kingad here:
