Spokane’s Michael Chiesa earns 12th UFC win, beats Albuquerque’s Carlos Condit in California

Fighting out of Spokane, Washington, United States, Michael “Maverick” Chiesa has earned his eighth victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He was one of the winners at “UFC 232,” the final event of the promotion for 2018.

Featuring 13 mixed martial arts bouts, “UFC 232” took place at The Forum, Inglewood, California, United States on December 29, 2018. In the 11th bout of the evening, he faced Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA in the welterweight division.

Referee Mike Beltran put a stop to the welterweight bout between Chiesa and Condit after 56 seconds in the second round. The fighter from Spokane submitted his opponent from Albuquerque via kimura.

Losing to Chiesa downgraded Condit’s professional MMA record to 30 wins and 13 losses. Training out of Jackson Wink MMA in Albuquerque, the latter is now riding a five-bout losing streak.

On the other hand, the victory at “UFC 232” improved Chiesa’s professional MMA record to 14 wins and 4 losses. It was a redemptive victory for him as he was coming out of two consecutive losses in the UFC.

In 2012, Chiesa made an impressive UFC debut by beating all of his five opponents in “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 15. He submitted Johnavan “The Immortal Warrior” Vistante of Waianae, Hawaii, USA and Al “Raging” Iaquinta of Long Island, New York, USA via rear-naked choke, knocked out Justin “The American Kid” Lawrence of Pacific, Missouri, USA and James “The Texecutioner” Vick of Mineral Wells, Texas, USA and defeated Jeremy Larsen of Phoenix, Arizona, USA via unanimous decision.

In 2013, Chiesa submitted Anton Kuivanen of Helsinki, Finland and Colton Smith of Fort Hood, Texas via rear-naked choke. The Spokane native defeated Mitch “Danger Zone” Clarke of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada via unanimous decision at “UFC Fight Night 63” in 2015 and submitted Jim “A-10” Miller of Whippany, New Jersey, USA and Beneil “Benny” Dariush of Huntington Beach, California both via rear-naked choke in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
