“Gotham” Season 5 episode 1 titled “Year Zero” will air on Fox on January 3, 2019. In the episode, viewers will see how chaotic Gotham City has become and James “Jim” Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) have to do something to fix it.
Jim will continue to fight for Gotham City in “Gotham” Season 5, which is inspired by the “Zero Year” and “No Man’s Land” comic stories. In the comics, the city was separated from the rest of the nation by an earthquake.
Joining Jim as one of his allies in the fight is Bruce. Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) will still stay by Jim’s side.
Some villains have survived the attack on Gotham City. They will start to resurface and claim various territories in “Year Zero,” which was written by Bruno Heller and directed by Danny Cannon.
There are “elevated stakes” in “Gotham” Season 5, McKenzie told IGN. According to the actor, his character is literally and figuratively on an island inside an island “surrounded by hostile forces.”
“It’s a strong starting off point and he’s not in a great place when you first see him,”McKenzie said of Jim. “And then it gets worse.”
Aside from McKenzie and Mazouz, “Year Zero” will also feature Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, Cameron Monaghan as Jeremiah Valeska, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma, David W. Thompson as Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow and Francesca Root-Dodson as Ecco. Hunter Jones will make his debut in the Fox series in this episode as Will Thomas.
Also appearing in “Year Zero” are Lindsay Brill as a spooky nurse, Kelcy Griffin as Detective Harper, Kevin D. McGee and Kelly P. Williams as Gotham City Police Department officers, CJ Parson as a refugee soldier, Billy Peck as a Strike Force captain as well as Jim Cleary, Alexandra Lopez Galan and Bob Leszczak as refugees.
