Donnie Wahlberg and Joey Fatone are both suspected as the Rabbit in the Fox reality singing competition show “The Masked Singer.” Many of the clues given seem to match to either of the two singers.
On episode 2 titled “Mask on Face Off,” which aired on January 9, 2019, viewers learned that the Rabbit used to be a part of a group. He said, “I’ve spent most of my life on stage but I was never alone.”
“Synchronized singing was my forte,” the Rabbit declared. Because of this, panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger thought he could be a former member of the boy band NSYNC but Fatone has already denied being part of the show.
“I’m not the rabbit,” Fatone told Us Weekly. “I wanted to be a judge! Why wasn’t I called?”
“As a young cottontail, I sought fame and everyone wanted a piece of me but life isn’t always carrots and cream,” the Rabbit said on episode 4 titled “Another Mask Bites the Dust,” which aired on January 23, 2019. “I found safety in a group.”
After five episodes of “The Masked Singer,” the remaining mystery celebrity contestants are the Alien, the Bee, the Lion, the Monster, the Peacock, the Rabbit and the Raven. Episode 6 titled “Touchy Feely Clues” will air on February 6, 2019.
Before the airing of “Touchy Feely Clues,” McCarthy talked about the theory that the Rabbit could Walhberg in an interview with E! News. Her husband is a founding member of the boy band New Kids on the Block.
“When I would Facetime him under the table during the show, he wouldn’t answer,” McCarthy said of Wahlberg. “When the Rabbit was off the stage, he would answer. You’ll probably see me next week going, ‘I think this is Donnie. Gosh, I really think this is Donnie.'”
McCarthy neither confirmed nor denied if Wahlberg is the Rabbit. What she promised was that whoever he is, “You’re going to be surprised.”
“That could be a surprise if it’s Donnie,” McCarthy said. “I didn’t know. That’s a surprise!”
