Cian Cowley vs Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady?

Reigning Brave CF Lightweight Champion Abdul-Kareem “Pride of Palestine” Al-Selwady, 23, of Amman, Jordan is number one on Cowley’s hit list. The SBG Ireland athlete recently said, “I respect and admire Al-Selwady a lot.”

“He’s from Palestine and I admire his people,” Cowley said of Al-Selwady. “They are similar to the Irish in some ways. He’s a great champion, a great athlete and I haven’t got one bad word to say about him.”

On November 16, 2018, Al-Selwady became the new Brave CF Lightweight Champion by knocking out Lucas “Mineiro” Martins, 30, at “Brave 18″ at the Khalifa Sports City Arena in Isa Town, Bahrain. It made the Palestinian MMA fighter the second fighter to hold the belt following Ottman “Bulldozer” Azaitar, 29, of Germany, who was stripped of his belt due to his failure to defend the title.

Al-Selwady defeated all of his five previous opponents in Brave CF, the first of which was Rami “Raminator” Aziz, 27, of Sweden at “Brave 1: The Beginning” at the Khalifa Sports City Arena on September 23, 2016. The former knocked out Michael “Maicon D” Deiga-Scheck, 33, of Germany at “Brave 4: Unstoppable” at the IPIC Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on March 31, 2017 and Erick “Indio Brabo” da Silva, 30, of Brazil at “Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions” at the Khalifa Sports City Arena on November 17, 2017.

On March 2, 2018, Al-Selwady fought Charlie Leary, 35, of England at “Brave 10: The Kingdom Rises” at the Prince Hamzah Sporting Hall in Amman. The Palestinian MMA fighter won via unanimous decision.

On March 15, 2019, Cowley will face John Brewin, 24, of Auckland, New Zealand at “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. On April 19, 2019, the reigning Brave CF Lightweight Champion will defend his title against Luan “Miau” Santiago, 24, of Brazil at “Brave 23” in Amman.
