Currently a free agent, Rolando Gabriel “Dy Incredible” Dy, 28, of Parañaque City, Metro Manila, Philippines is one of the 11 Filipinos on the “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” card. He will face Mehmosh “The Renegade” Raza, 23, of Islamabad, Pakistan in the featherweight division.
Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion Brave Combat Federation will hold “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on March 15, 2019. The open workouts and the public weigh-ins were held on March 13, 2019 and March 14, 2019, respectively, at the Newport Mall in Resorts World Manila in Pasay City.
After the open workouts, we took the opportunity to quickly catch up with Dy. I asked him to give a message to Raza.
“I looked you straight in the eye today and I smelled fear from you,” Dy said, speaking to Raza. “I know you are fierce but sad thing is I will break you and I should win. I’ll break that hard. I’ll break that mindset of yours.”
The next day during the public weigh-ins, Dy and Raza had a heated face-off. The intense staredown was initiated by the Filipino contender and it was willingly accepted by his Pakistani opponent.
Dy kind of pulled off a Joanna Jędrzejczyk during the public weigh-ins. The latter is known for imposing her dominant presence on her opponents while trying to break their morale during face-offs in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Competing professionally since 2011, Dy competed in the UFC from 2017 to 2018, winning one out of four bouts in the American MMA promotion. He told me he still hopes to compete in the UFC in the future.
“Brave 22: Storm of Warriors” marks Dy’s second Brave CF bout. His promotional debut on April 23, 2017 at “Brave 5” against Nelson Paes of India ended in a No Contest due to accidental head clash.
This is also Raza’s second bout in Brave CF. On October 27, 2018, the Pakistani made his successful promotional debut at “Brave 17” in his home country where he submitted his Filipino opponent Arben “Bigbang” Escayo, 31, via guillotine choke.
