Erick G. Salas, 31, and Timothy J. Martin, 25, have died. They were roommates in Liberal, Seward County, Kansas, United States.
At around 8:00 a.m. on April 2, 2019, Martin’s body was found in a ditch on a farmer’s property along U.S. Highway 54, which is just across the state line in Texas County, Oklahoma, USA. In the evening, Salas’s body was discovered in a trailer at Seven Winds RV Park, which is west of Liberal.
Investigators believe that Martin and Salas’s deaths are connected because they had lived together. There is or are still no suspect or suspects.
The Seward County Sheriff’s Office asked the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to help in the investigation into the deaths of Martin and Salas. Also participating in the investigation are the Texas County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas County District Attorney’s Office, the Liberal Police Department and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics.
Founded and incorporated in 1888, Liberal is the county sear of Seward County. The city is home to the Seward County Community College, which was established on December 29, 1967.
