Fighting out of Stockholm, Sweden, undefeated mixed martial artist Khamzat “Borz” Chimaev, 24, was one of the winners at “Brave 23: Pride and Honor.” It was his third victory in Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion Brave Combat Federation.
Featuring 12 MMA matches, which included three title bouts, “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” took place at the Martyr Rashid Al-Ziyoud Hall Boxing Arena in Amman, Jordan on April 19, 2019. It was the second Brave CF event to take place in the country.
In the eighth bout of the evening, Chimaev faced Ikram Aliskerov, 26, of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia. They competed in the welterweight division.
The referee put a stop to the welterweight contest in the first round when Chimaev knocked out Aliskerov. This made the Swedish contender the first fighter to defeat the Russian fighter in a professional MMA bout.
Winning at “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” improved Chimaev’s professional MMA record to 5 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Aliskerov now has 8 wins and 1 loss.
Aliskerov was one of the two fighters who represented Russia at “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” while Chimaev was one of the two fighters who represented Sweden. Bahrain, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, England, France, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia, the United States and Wales were also represented.
Training out of AllStars in Stockholm, Chimaev made his professional MMA debut in 2018 and won four bouts in just one year. Two of these were in Brave CF.
On November 16, 2018, Chimaev made his Brave CF debut at “Brave 18” at the Khalifa Sports City Arena in Manama, Bahrain. He knocked out Marko Kisič of Vienna, Austria via punches in the first round.
On December 22, 2018, Chimaev came in as a last minute substitute to face Sidney “The All-American Kid” Wheeler, 22, of Georgia, United States in the main event of “Brave 20” at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, India. The Swedish fighter finished the American wrestler in the first round.
