Alistair “The Demolition Man” Overeem, 38, of Amsterdam, Netherlands was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 149”at the Yubileyny Sports Palace in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was his 10th victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
On April 20, 2019, Overeem and Alexey “The Boa Constrictor” Oleinik, 41, of Moscow, Russia headlined “UFC Fight Night 149,” which featured 11 mixed martial arts matches. They competed in the heavyweight division.
Marc Goddard served as the referee. He put a stop to the heavyweight contest after 4 minutes and 45 seconds in the first round when Overeem knocked out Oleynik via knees and punches.
Winning at “UFC Fight Night 149” improved Overeem’s professional MMA record to 45 wins and 17 losses. On the other hand, Oleynik now has 57 wins, 12 losses and 1 draw.
At “UFC Fight Night 149,” Overeem solely represented the Netherlands while Oleynik was one of the 10 hometown heroes who competed in front of their countrymen. Brazil, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, North Macedonia, Peru, Poland, Russia, South Korea and the U.S. were also represented.
Overeem was born on May 17, 1980 in Hounslow, London, England to a Jamaican father and a Dutch mother. He was six years old when his parents divorced so he and his older brother moved with their mother to the Netherlands.
Training out of Jackson Wink MMA Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, Overeem has been competing professionally since 1999. He joined the UFC in 2011.
Before facing Oleynik at “UFC Fight Night 149,” Overeem defeated nine opponents in the UFC.
