Poland’s Krzysztof Jotko earns 7th UFC win at ‘UFC Fight Night 149’ in St. Petersburg, Russia

Krzysztof Jotko, 29, of Orneta, Poland was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 149.” It was his seventh victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Featuring 11 mixed martial arts matches, “UFC Fight Night 149” took place at the Yubileyny Sports Palace in Saint Petersburg, Russia on April 20, 2019. In the seventh bout of the evening, Jotko fought Alen Amedovski, 31, of Debar, North Macedonia in the middleweight division.

Herb Dean served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the bout was left in the hands of the judges namely Ben Cartlidge,David Lethaby and Macie Motylewski.

In the end, Dean raised the hand of Jotko, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision. Cartlidge scored the bout 30-25 while both Lethaby and Motylewski scored it 30-26 all in favor of the Polish contender.

Winning at “UFC Fight Night 149” improved Jotko’s professional MMA record to 20 wins and 4 losses. On the other hand, Amedovski now has 8 wins and 1 loss.

It was a redemptive win for Jotko who was coming out of a three-bout losing streak. He lost to David Branch, 37, of Brooklyn, New York, United States and Uriah “Prime Time” Hall, 34, of New York in 2017 and to Brad Tavares, 31, of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA in 2018.

At “UFC Fight Night 149,” Jotko was one of the three fighters who represented Poland while Amedovski solely represented North Macedonia. Brazil, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, the Netherlands, Peru, Russia, South Korea and the U.S. were also represented.

Born in Elblag, Poland on August 19, 1989, Jotko has been competing professionally since 2010. He was undefeated from 2010 to 2013.

It was in 2013 when Jotko joined the UFC. He previously competed in Black Dragon, Pro Fight MMA and MMA Attack, among others.

On May 31, 2014, Jotko had his first loss as a professional MMA fighter. He was submitted via guillotine choke by Magnus “Jycken” Cedenblad, 37, of Stockholm, Sweden at “UFC Fight Night 41” at the O2 World Arena in Berlin, Germany.

Before facing Amedovski at “UFC Fight Night 149,” Jotko defeated six other opponents in the UFC. They were Tor “The Hammer” Troéng, 36, of Umea, Sweden, Scott Askham, 30, of South Yorkshire, England, Brad “Bear” Scott, 29, of Melksham, Wilshire, England, Tamdan “The Barn Cat” McCrory, 32, of Binghamton, New York and Thales Leites, 37, of Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
