Undefeated Ingushetian MMA fighter Movsar Evloev earns 1st UFC win at ‘UFC Fight Night 149’ in St. Petersburg

Hailing from Ingushetia, undefeated mixed martial artist Movsar Evloev, 25, of was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 149.” It was his first bout and first victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Featuring 11 mixed martial arts matches, “UFC Fight Night 149” took place at the Yubileyny Sports Palace in Saint Petersburg, Russia on April 20, 2019. In the sixth bout of the evening, Evloev fought Choi Seung Woo, 26, of Seoul, South Korea in the featherweight division with Vjacheslav Kiselev as the referee.

In the first few minutes of the bout, Choi was able to land some stinging kicks. But eventually, Evloev dominated the fight by taking his South Korean opponent and tying him up against the cage.

In the second round, Evloev was deducted 1 point due to an illegal knee to a downed opponent. After three five-minute rounds, the bout was left in the hands of the judges namely Lucasz Bosaki, Howard Hughes and Maria Makhmutova.

In the end, Kiselev raised the hand of Evloev, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision. Both Bosaki and Makhmutova scored the bout 29-27 while Hughes scored it 29-26 all in favor of the Ingushetian contender.

Winning at “UFC Fight Night 149” improved Evloev ‘s professional MMA record to 11 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Choi now has 7 wins and 2 losses.

At “UFC Fight Night 149,” Evloev was one of the 10 hometown heroes who competed while Choi solely represented South Korea. Brazil, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, North Macedonia, the Netherlands, Peru, Poland and the U.S. were also represented.

Like Evloev, Choi was also a UFC debutante. The South Korean fighter previously competed in Top Fighting Championship, Kunlun Fight and Art of War Fighting Championship.

A former M-1 Global Bantamweight Champion, Evloev is training out of Fight Club Nart in Sunzha, Russia. The Ingushetia native has been competing professionally 2014.

Evloev made his successful professional MMA debut in M-1 Global. He competed in the promotion from 2014 to 2018 before joining the UFC.
