Mark “Mugen” Striegl, 30, of Baguio City, Philippines is still the URCC Global Featherweight Champion. On April 27, 2019, he defended his belt at “URCC Global: Raw Fury,” the first event of the Philippines-based mixed martial arts promotion URCC Global in 2019.

Featuring 10 MMA matches, “URCC Global: Raw Fury” took place at The Cove at Okada Manila in Parañaque City, Metro Manila, Philippines. In the co-main event of the evening, Shunichi “Rolling Star” Shimizu, 34, of Kuchinoerabu, Japan challenged the reigning URCC Global Featherweight Champion.

Joey Lepiten served as the referee. He paused the contest before the end of the second round when Striegl accidentally hit Sunichi in the groin.

After given 5 minutes to recover, Shimizu was not able to continue. It was declared a No Contest, which meant Striegl is still the reigning URCC Global Featherweight World Champion.

The match between Striegl and Shimizu was one of the five title bouts at “URCC Global: Raw Fury.” Striegl now holds a professional MMA record of 18 wins and 2 losses and 1 No Contest while Shimizu has 32 wins, 22 losses, 11 draws, 1 No Contest.

While Striegl was one the 17 hometown heroes who competed at “URCC Global: Raw Fury,” Shimizu solely represented Japan. China, South Korea, Switzerland and the United States were also represented.

Competing professionally since 2005, Shimizu made his URCC Global debut at “URCC Global: Raw Fury.” It was the sixth URCC Global bout of Striegl, who has been competing professionally since 2009.

When Striegl made his URCC debut at “URCC Baguio 3: Invasion” at the Baguio Convention Center in Baguio City on February 19, 2011, he submitted Crisanto “The Slugger” Pitpitunge, 31, of the Philippines. On April 28, 2012, Striegl also submitted Alcer Lozada of the Philippines via rear-naked choke at “URCC 21: Warpath” at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila.

Striegl submitted Andrew Benibe via keylock at “URCC 30” at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila on August 12, 2017 and defeated Ki Sung Kim of South Korea via unanimous decision at “URCC: BETS 4” at the Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino in Lapu-lapu, Cebu, Philippines on December 13, 2017. On September 29, 2018, Striegl dethroned then reigning URCC Global Featherweight Champion Do Gyeom “The Undead” Lee, 27, of South Korea in the main event of “URCC: Colossal” at the Araneta Coliseum.
