Boxing Works’ Janet Todd earns 1st ONE Super Series win at ‘ONE: Warriors of Light’ in Bangkok, Thailand

Training out of Boxing Works in Torrance, California, United States, Janet “JT” Todd, 33, was one of the winners at “ONE: Warriors of Light.” It was her first victory in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.

Featuring five mixed martial arts bouts and seven ONE Super Series contests, which included three kickboxing contests and four Muay Thai matches, “ONE: Warriors of Light” took place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on May 10, 2019. In the second bout of the evening, Todd faced Wang Chin Long, 18, of Taipei, Taiwan in a kickboxing contest in the atomweight division with Elias Dolaptsis as the referee.

Todd was faster and sharper with her strikes up to the finish as Wang played defense for the majority of the contest. The American kickboxer dropped her Taiwanese opponent three times in the second round.

Dolaptsis put a stop to the atomweight contest after 2 minutes and 59 seconds in the second round. The referee raised the hand of the American kickboxer, who was declared the winner via technical knockout.

Winning at “ONE: Warriors of Light” improved the professional kickboxing record of Todd to 33 wins and 11 losses. On the other hand, Wang now has 0 win and 1 loss.

Todd was born and raised in Hermosa Beach, California. She won bronze medals at the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur World Championships and the World Games and a gold medal at the IFMA Pan American Championships.

“ONE: Warriors of Light” marked Todd’s second ONE Super Series debut. When she made her debut in the league at “ONE: Call to Greatness” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on February 22, 2019, she lost to ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex, 21, of Thailand.

At “ONE: Warriors of Light,” Todd and Wang were the sole representatives of the U.S. and Chinese Taipei, respectively. Algeria, Australia, Cambodia, China, Cyprus, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Portugal, Thailand were also represented.
