Hans Loozekoot has been named as the president of the Philippine Life Insurance Association (PLIA). He succeeds Dr. Olaf Kliesow, who will be moving to Munich, Germany for his new Allianz posting.
“It’s an honor to be elected as President of PLIA,” Loozekoot said. “I’m excited to work with other PLIA member companies, the Insurance Commissioner and other stakeholders to further strengthen the life insurance industry.”
Almost 25 years ago, Loozekoot joined Ageas, a listed international insurance group with headquarters in Belgium. Now, he serves as the president and CEO of Troo, the life insurance joint venture of Ageas and EastWest Bank.
For the last 12 years, Loozekoot has worked in Asia. PLIA general manager George C. Mina said, “Hans will bring his international experience to the PLIA.”
Over the years, Loozekoot has held various senior management positions in the domains of sales, finance and strategy across different businesses of Ageas. In 2007, he moved to Hong Kong as the director of finance and reporting of Ageas in Asia.
In 2009, Loozekoot was assigned to India as the Chief Financial Officer of Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) Federal Life Insurance. He returned to Hong Kong in 2012 to take up the posting as Managing Director for Strategy and M&A and as a member of the Management Committee Ageas Asia then moved to the Philippines in 2015.
Loozekoot is a Dutch national and he holds a degree in Economics. Since 2015, he has been a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors in the Philippines.
