Northern Mariana Islands’ Frank Camacho earns 2nd UFC win at ‘UFC Fight Night 153’ in Stockholm, Sweden

Fighting out of Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, Frank “The Crank” Camacho, 30, was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 153.” It was the Chamorro mixed martial artist’s second victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Featuring 12 MMA matches, “UFC Fight Night 153” took place at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden on June 1, 2019. In the fourth bout of the evening, Camacho fought Nick “Sergeant” Hein, 35, of Cologne, Germany in the lightweight division with Leon Roberts as the referee.

Training out of Team Oyama in Orange County, California, United States, Camacho aggressively outperformed Hein with kicks and punches to the body. Roberts put a stop to the lightweight contest after 4 minutes and 56 seconds when the Chamorro fighter knocked out his German opponent via punches.

“It was a rough road to get here but I’m definitely taking the right steps,” Camacho said after his “UFC Fight Night 153” victory. “I found a really good team, a really good home base for me. I’m excited for what I’m going to do in the next few years in the lightweight division.”

“UFC Fight Night 153” marked the fifth UFC bout of Camacho, who improved his professional MMA record to 22 wins and 7 losses. He had his first win in the promotion on November 11, 2018 when he defeated Damien Brown via split decision at “UFC Fight Night 121” at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Hein was set to face Luigi “The Italian Stalion” Vendramini, 23, of Rome, Italy at “UFC Fight Night 121.” The Italian fighter was pulled out from the card due to injury and was replaced by Camacho.

Born in Hagåtña, Guam and raised in Saipan, Camacho has been competing professionally since 2005. He joined the UFC in 2017.

Losing to Camacho downgraded Hein’s professional MMA record to 14 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw and 1 No Contest. It was the German fighter’s eighth UFC bout.

Camacho solely represented the Northern Mariana Islands at “UFC Fight Night 153.” Hein was the only representative of Germany in the event.

Including the Northern Mariana Islands, Germany and Sweden, 15 countries were represented at “UFC Fight Night 153.” The other countries were Austria, Brazil, Denmark, England, Finland, Italy, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, South Korea, Spain and the United States.
