Fighting out of Stockholm, Sweden, Bea “Bad News Barbie” Malecki, 27, was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 153.” It was her first victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 12 mixed martial arts matches, “UFC Fight Night 153” took place at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden on June 1, 2019. In the third bout of the evening, Malecki fought Duda “Cowboyzinha” Santana, 23, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the women’s bantamweight division with Rich Mitchell as the referee.
In the first round, Santana had a pair of takedowns and exhibited good control in the grappling exchanges. In the second round, she made a takedown attempt that ended up with her Swedish opponent on top and in mount.
Mitchell put a stop to the bantamweight contest after 1 minute and 59 seconds in the second round. Malecki submitted Santana via rear-naked choke.
“I saw the opening and realized I could take her back and I did,” Malecki explained after the bout. “She was good defending her neck but then I saw another opening, adjusted my position and I got her.”
Winning at “UFC Fight Night 153” improved Malecki’s professional MMA record to 2 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Belluardo now has 3 wins and 1 loss.
Malecki made her UFC debut at “UFC Fight Night 153.” She was one of the five hometown heroes on the fight card.
Born on August 23, 1991 in Sweden, Malecki made his professional MMA debut in 2017. In 2018, he competed in “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 28 where she lost to Leah “Nidas” Letson, 26, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States.
Santana was one of the two fighters who represented Brazil at “UFC Fight Night 153.” Like Malecki, the Rio de Janeiro native also made her UFC debut.
Including Brazil and Sweden, 15 countries were represented at “UFC Fight Night 153.” The other countries were Austria, Denmark, England, Finland, Germany, Italy, Northern Mariana Islands, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, South Korea, Spain and the U.S.
