Henry “The Messenger” Cejudo, 32, of Phoenix, Arizona, United States became the fourth mixed martial artist to simultaneously hold championships in two weight divisions in the Ultimate Fighting Championships on June 8, 2019. He defeated Marlon “Magic” Moraes, 31, of Nova Friburgo, Brazil at “UFC 238.”
On June 9, 2019, Justin Bieber, 25, of Ontario, Canada took to Twitter to challenge Tom Cruise, 56, of Los Angeles, California, USA. The Canadian singer tagged UFC president Dana White, 49, of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Bieber may have the advantage of youth but he does not have the combat sports training that Cruise had. When the latter went to Glen Ridge High School in Ridge Borough, New Jersey, USA, he was a member of the wrestling team.
‘He really wanted to achieve but didn’t know what to achieve in,” former wrestling captain Tom Jarrett told Daily Mail, referring to Cruise. “I think his disabilities like dyslexia held him back, so acting and wrestling were perfect for him.”
Neither Cruise nor White has commented on Bieber’s statement. The Canadian singer received from his friend Conor “The Notorious” McGregor, 30, of Dublin, Ireland.
A former featherweight and lightweight champion in the UFC, McGregor also challenged a Hollywood actor. The Irish MMA fighter took to Twitter to call out Mark Wahlberg, 48, of Los Angeles.
Both Bieber and Wahlberg modeled for Calvin Klein. In 2017, the latter described the former as “a very nice young man” on the “Conan” show.
Wahlberg is set to star in the Netflix film “Wonderland,” a mystery film written by Sean O’Keefe and directed by Peter Berg. The film also stars Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, 36, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, who lost to Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson, 35, of Ventura, California at “UFC 238.”
While Wahlberg has two Academy Award nominations, Cruise has three. The two actors have yet to win an Oscar.
Currently, Cruise is filming “Top Gun: Maverick.” Written by Peter Craig, Justin Marks, Christopher McQuarrie and Eric Warren Singer and directed by Joseph Kosinski, the action drama film will be released by Paramount Pictures on June 26, 2020.
