Training out of Sik-Jitsu Spokane in Spokane Valley, Washington, United States, Michael “Maverick” Chiesa, 31, was one of the winners at “UFC 239.” It was his ninth victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 12 mixed martial arts matches, “UFC 239” took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, USA on July 6, 2019. In the eight bout of the evening, Chiesa fought Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez, 37, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA in the welterweight division.
Mark Smith served as the referee of the welterweight bout between Chiesa and Sanchez. After three five-minute rounds, the bout was left in the hands of the judges and in the end, Smith raised the hand of Chiesa, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
Winning at “UFC 239” improved the professional MMA record of Chiesa to 16 wins and 4 losses. On the other hand, Sanchez now has 29 wins and 12 losses.
