Undefeated Evolve MMA fighter Troy Worthen earns 1st ONE Championship win, knocks out Chen Rui at ‘ONE: Masters of Destiny’ in Malaysia

Training out of Evolve MMA in Singapore, undefeated mixed martial artist Troy Worthen, 26, of the United States was one of the winners at “ONE: Masters of Destiny” at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 12, 2019. He defeated “The Ghost” Chen Rui, 22, of China.

“ONE: Masters of Destiny” marked the second ONE Championship bout of Chen, who is training out of Chengdu Ashura Fight Club. It was Worthen’s promotional debut.

ONE Championship included four kickboxing contests, two Muay Thai matches and 10 mixed martial arts bouts on the “ONE: Masters of Destiny” card. In the 10th bout of the evening, Worthen and Chen competed in an MMA match in the bantamweight division with Olivier Coste as the referee.

A former NCWA Wrestling Champion, Worthen was dominant in his ONE Championship debut. He showed off his excellence on the mat as he grounded Chen and punished him from the top with strikes.

In the second round, Worthen took Chen down once more. The Evolve MMA athlete dished out even more punishment.

Coste put a stop to the bantamweight contest after 3 minutes and 29 seconds in the second round. Worthen knocked out Chen, marking the first professional MMA loss of the Chinese contender.

Winning at “ONE: Masters of Destiny” improved the professional MMA record of Worthen 5 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Chen now has 7 wins and 1 loss.

Including China and the U.S., 19 countries were represented at “ONE: Masters of Destiny.” The others were Australia, Brazil, Finland, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Scotland and Singapore, South Korea and Vietnam.
