50 Cent: No place like Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Curtis James Jackson III, 44, who is professionally known as 50 Cent, is currently in Jeddah, the largest city in Makkah Province of Saudi Arabia. On July 18, 2019, the rapper took to Twitter to praise the city.

50 Cent is one of the four headliners of the Jeddah World Fest 2019, the largest music concert in Saudi Arabia. He is headlining the music festival with fellow rappers Micheal Ray Stevenson, 29, and Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, 35, and whose respective stage names are Tyga and Future, along with singer-songwriter and actor Chris Brown, 30.

Jeddah World Fest 2019 is organized by Saudi Seasons. Janet Jackson, 53, Liam Payne, 25, and Steve Aoki, 41, are also in the lineup of performers.

While 50 Cent seems to be having fun in Jeddah, Onika Tanya Maraj, 36, who is professionally known as Nicki Minaj, refused to be part of the Jeddah World Fest 2019. She was scheduled to headline the music festival but days before the concert, she pulled out because she wanted to support freedom of expression and the rights of women and the LGBTQIA+ community.

“After careful reflection I have decided to no longer move forward with my scheduled concert at Jeddah World Fest,” Minaj said in a statement to The Associated Press, which was obtained by The Washington Post. “While I want nothing more than to bring my show to fans in Saudi Arabia, after better educating myself on the issues, I believe it is important for me to make clear my support for the rights of women, the LGBTQ community and freedom of expression.”

To replace Minaj, 50 Cent, Tyga, Future and Brown agreed to headline Jeddah World Fest 2019, which prohibits illegal weapons, drugs and alcohol. It will take pace at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.

Meanwhile, 50 Cent and Marshall Bruce Mathers III, 46, who is professionally known as Eminem, recently worked with Ed Sheeran, 28, for a new collaboration song titled “Remember the Name.” The song is one of the 15 tracks from Sheeran’s fourth studio album titled “No.6 Collaborations Project.”
