ONE Championship has announced the official launch of Asia’s largest esports world championship series with ONE Esports. Among the first confirmed events of the 2019-2020 season is the ONE Dota 2 Singapore World Pro Invitational.
ONE Esports will be organizing a series of Dota 2 World Pro Invitationals featuring the top teams in the world. The ONE Dota 2 Singapore World Pro Invitational will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore from December 20-22, 2019.
The Singapore Indoor Stadium regularly hosts ONE Championship events. It will be the venue for “ONE Warrior Series” Season 7 on August 6, 2019, “ONE: Edge of Greatness” on November 22, 2019 and “ONE Warrior Series” Season 9 on December 4, 2019.
The invitationals will see the best professional Dota 2 teams in the world compete for a prize pool of US$500,000. Newly appointed ONE Esports CEO Carlos Alimurung stated, “The opportunity to build a multibillion dollar esports business in Asia is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
“ONE’s DNA is about celebrating inspirational stories and heroes, which will be instrumental in enriching the region’s entire esports ecosystem of amateurs, pro players, game developers, leagues, organizers, country agencies and brands,” Alimuring continued. “The team is very strong, and I’m excited to incorporate their ideas and energy to execute our strategy.”
According to ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong, there is a natural crossover between martial arts and gaming fans in Asia. He said, “With ONE Esports, ONE Championship is without a doubt Asia’s largest producer of millennial sports content.”
