“Brave 24: London” was not perfect for Straight Blast Gym Ireland head coach John Kavanagh, 32, of Ireland. But that did not stop the world-class coach from appreciating the uniqueness of the invite-only, exclusive show of Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion Brave Combat Federation.
On July 25, 2019, Brave CF held “Brave 24: London” at the Copper Box Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, England. In the co-main event of the evening, Maciej “MagicMan” Gierzewski, 32, of Poland and Northern Ireland fought SBG Ireland athlete Cian “The Warrior” Cowley, 25, of Ireland in the lightweight division.
Leon Roberts as the referee. Gierszweski knocked out Kavanagh’s protege in the second round.
“Everything looks absolutely spectacular,” Kavanagh said of “Brave 24: London.” “The setting, the pre-fight show and the show itself. It’s a very unusual night, a great night.”
Kavanagh was one of the guests of the event. He is very proud to be a part of the proceedings, which looked to connect several VIP personalities to MMA, with the goal of taking the sport to a new level.
“I’m very proud to be a part of it,” the SBG Ireland head coach said. “Thank you, Brave CF. For doing something like this, to really expand MMA worldwide.”
Considered one of Brave CF’s biggest supporters, Kavanagh has recently suggested that the promotion could be the next destination for a boxing bout between Artem “The Russian Hammer” Lobov, 32, of Russia and Ireland and Amir “King” Khan, 32, of England. The Russian-Irish fighter is one of hthe SBG Ireland head coach’s best-known athletes.
Born in Churchtown, Dublin, Ireland on January 18, 1977, Kavanagh is a third degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Like Cowley and Lobov, UFC fighters Conor “The Notorious” McGregor, 31, of Dublin, Makwan “Mr. Finland” Amirkhani, 30, of Finland and Gunnar “Gunni” Nelson, 31, of Iceland are also proteges of the SBG Ireland head coach.
Brave CF president Mohammed Shahid was also present at “Brave 24: London.” Meanwhile, here is clip featuring the fighters including Cowley and Gierszweski:
