Fighting out of Brasilia, Federal District, Brazil, Vicente “The Silent Assassin” Luque, 27, was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 156.” It was the Brazilian mixed martial artist’s 10th victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 13 professional MMA bouts, “UFC Fight Night 156” took place at the Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay. In the 12th bout of the evening, Luque competed in the welterweight division against Mike “Platinum” Perry, 27, of Orlando, Florida, United States.
Eduardo Herdy served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the welterweight bout was left in the hand of the judges, who all scored it 28-29, 29-28 and 29-28.
In the end, Maia raised the hand of Luque, who was declared the winner via split decision. It was the third split decision victory of the evening.
“I had four fights over an 11-month period,” Luque said in his post-fight interview. “I’m dedicating myself and I hope UFC gives me a top-10 in my next fight. I beat a very tough guy and showed that I’m here to stay.”
Winning at “UFC Fight Night 156” improved the professional MMA record of Luque to 17 wins, 6 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Perry now has 13 wins and 5 losses.
Including Brazil and the U.S., 11 countries were represented at “UFC Fight Night 156.” The others were France, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Luque was one of the 11 fighters who represented Brazil. Perry was one of the four representatives of the U.S.
Born in Westwood, New Jersey on November 27, 1991, Luque has been competing professionally since 2009. He joined the UFC in 2015.
“UFC Fight Night 156” marked Luque’s 11th UFC bout.
