The World Kickboxing Network will return to Argentina with the third edition of “Estrellas de Acero” (Steel Stars). The competitors from all over the country are scheduled to participate.
“Estrellas de Acero III” will take place at Club Morón in Morón, Buenos Aires, Argentina on September 1, 2019. The upcoming show will feature a series of WKN Argentinian amateur rating bouts and the roster includes light contact, full contact, kickboxing and mixed martial arts.
The previous edition of “Estrellas de Acero” was held in July 2019 at the same venue. The event presented alongside “Bosch Tour” saw Gaston “El Irlandes” Monroe of Argentina earning the WKN Argentinian Lightweight Kickboxing title by technical knockout in the second round against his countryman Dylan Salazar.
“Estrellas de Acero III” is promoted by former WKN Cruiserweight Champion Jorge “Acero” Cali of Argentina. He has been looking to set a fight with his country man Marcos “El Chino” Maidana, a former world champion boxer in two weight classes, but the bout is yet to be confirmed.
“Our Argentinian partners and friends develop the WKN amateur branch in the country in order to find a new talent and help building the stars of tomorrow,” WKN president Stephane Cabrera stated. “This is the best way to keep developing our sport and a creating a strong generation for the bright future. WKN Argentinian lead Jorge ‘Acero’ Cali and Fernando Munoz are doing excellent work, with the help of Cristian Bosch of Dojo Serpiente.”
Over the years the South American capital of Kickboxing, Argentina has held a number of world-class events including eight episodes of Simply the Best produced in such cities as Buenos Aires, San Luis, Cordoba and Moreno featuring world, intercontinental and subordinate title bouts. The list of prominent kickboxers representing the country includes Federico Roma, Christian Bosch, Ignacio Capllonch and Nicolas Vega, among others.
