Former ONE Strawweight World Champion Alex “Little Rock” Silva, 36, of Brazil was one of the winners at “ONE: Dreams of Gold.” It was the seventh ONE Championship victory of the Brazilian mixed martial artist, who is training out of Evolve MMA in Singapore.

Featuring mixed martial arts, kickboxing and Muay Thai, “ONE: Dreams of Gold” took place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on August 16, 2019. In the 10th bout of the evening, Silva fought Stefer “The Lion” Rahardian, 32, of Indonesia in an MMA contest in the strawweight division with Yoshinori Umeki as the referee.

A submission specialist, Silva brought the action to the ground early. He wasted little time in looking for a submission.

But Rahardian is a high-level grappler in his own right. He managed to survive Silva’s attempts.

With just seconds left in the second round, Silva’s grappling pedigree became evident. Umeki put a stop to the strawweight contest after 4 minutes and 55 seconds in the second round when Silva locked in an armbar to force Rahardian to tap out.

Winning at “ONE: Dreams of Gold” improved the professional MMA record of Silva to 8 wins and 4 losses. Also, Rahardian now has 8 wins and 4 losses.

Including Brazil and Indonesia, 19 countries were represented at “ONE: Dreams of Gold.” The others were Cambodia, China, Cuba, Cyprus, France, India, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Russia, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Silva solely represented Brazil. Rahardian was one of the three fighters who represented Indonesia.

Competing professionally since 2011, Silva joined ONE Championship in 2012. Before facing Rahardian at “ONE: Dreams of Gold,” the Evolve defeated six opponents in the promotion.

The first four ONE Championship opponents Silva defeated were Filipinos namely the siblings Rene “D’Challenger” Catalan, 40, Ruel “The Avenger” Catalan, 31, and Robin “The Ilonggo” Catalan, 31, as well as Roy Doliguez, 37.

In 2017, Silva defeated two Japanese opponents. He submitted Hayato Suzuki, 33, and dethroned then reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito, 35, via unanimous decision.
