Bangpleenoi Petchyindee Academy, 25, of Thailand was one of the winners at “ONE: Dreams of Gold.” It was the Thai martial artist’s second victory in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.
Featuring MMA, kickboxing and Muay Thai, “ONE: Dreams of Gold” took place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on August 16, 2019. In the fourth bout of the evening, Bangpleenoi fought Liam Nolan, 22, of the United Kingdom in a Muay Thai contest at a catch weight of 72 kg.
Elias Dolaptsis served as the referee. Dom Lau was the cage announcer while Michael Schiavello and Mitch Chilson were the commentators.
Both world-class strikers, Bangpleenoi and Nolan put on a Muay Thai clinic for three exciting rounds much to the delight of the fans in attendance at the Impact Arena. After three three-minute rounds, the Muay Thai contest was left in the hands of the judges.
In the end, Dolaptsis raised the hand of Bangpleenoi. The Thai contender was declared the winner via majority decision.
Winning at “ONE: Dreams of Gold” improved the professional Muay Thai record of Bangpleenoi to 122 wins, 10 losses and 10 draws. On the other hand, Nolan now has 16 wins, 6 losses and 1 draw.
Including Thailand and the U.K., 19 countries were represented at “ONE: Dreams of Gold.” The others were Brazil, Cambodia, China, Cuba, Cyprus, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Philippines, Russia, Serbia, South Korea, the Netherlands, Vietnam and the United States.
Bangpleenoi was one of the six fighters who represented Thailand. Nolan solely represented the Netherlands.
“ONE: Dreams of Gold” marked Bangpleenoi’s second ONE Super Series bout. When he made his debut in the league at “ONE: Hero’s Ascent” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on January 25, 2019, he defeated Brown Pinas, 26, of the Netherlands via unanimous decision.
