Belo Horizonte’s Bruno Assis to fight fellow Brazilian Daniel Souza at ‘Brave 25’

Bruno Assis, 27, of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil has two victories for Brave Combat Federation. He feels he is one other victory away from fighting for an eventual inaugural Brave Combat Federation Middleweight World Championship title.

On August 30, 2019, Assis will take on dangerous newcomer Daniel “Gaucho” Souza, 28, of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. They will compete in middleweight division in the main card of “Brave 25” at the Minas Tenis Clube Arena in Belo Horizonte.

Assis is on a tear since joining Brave CF, submitting both of his opponents. He first fought in the promotion’s debut in Belo Horizonte in April 2018 when he finished Douglas “Mahal” Carvalho Alves, 31, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil via armbar submission.

But Assis’s landmark victory so far is against grappling giant Rustam “Russian Bear” Chsiev of Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia-Alania, Russia on December 28, 2018. The Brazilian contender surprised his Russian opponent with a slick triangle choke at “Brave 21” in Saudi Arabia.

While Brave CF has yet to crown a world champion in his weight class, Assis is adamant he deserves to be in the conversation whenever the promotion opens up the world title at middleweight. He acknowledged that he has a very tough opponent in front of him at “Brave 25.”

“He’s strong and experienced,” Assis said of Souza. “But I’m also like that. My last fight proved that I’m at the top of the division.”

“I fought a very tough Russian fighter, a guy who has heavy hands and is a very, very accomplished wrestler,” Assis continued. “I followed our strategy and showed a lot of patience by waiting for the right moment to finish the fight. The division is wide open right now but I deserve to fight for the title.”

Fighting out of the famous BH Rhinos gym, Assis will have the fans by his side on fight night,as he will lock horns with Souza. The latter trains at the CM System gym with Brave CF Lightweight World Champion Luan “Miau” Santiago, 24, of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.

“I fought before in Belo Horizonte for Brave CF,” Assis recalled. “I was surrounded by my loved ones, by my fans and all those who want me to do well. It was such a special night and the highlight of my career so far. Hopefully, ‘Brave 25’ will be even better.”
