Law student and model Geraldine González, 19, will represent Chile in Miss Universe 2019. She is the 55th woman from her country to compete in the international beauty pageant.

Representing Escuela SuperMiss, González was crowned Miss Universo Chile 2019 (Miss Universe Chile 2019) on September 1, 2019 at the Casino Dreams in Punta Arenas, Región de Magallanes y de la Antártica Chilena, Chile. She bested 17 other candidates.

Runner-up to González is Miss Puerto Montt Tiare Fuentes. Miss Santiago Paula Henriquez, Miss San Pedro de Atacama Viviana Luco and Miss Comunidad Extranjera Constanza Martinez were the second, third and fourth runners-up.

González hails from Conchali, Santiago Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region, Chile. While working as a model, she is studying Law at the University of Andrés Bello in Santiago.

Although González succeeded Miss Universe Chile 2018 Andrea Diaz, who did not place in Miss Universe 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand, it was Miss Universe Chile 2018 first runner-up Sabina Ahumada who crowned the new queen. Aside from winning the Miss Universe Chile 2019 title, the University of Andrés Bello student also won the Miss Popularidad (Miss Popularity) award.

This was not González’s first time to compete in Miss Universe Chile. She was the second runner-up when she competed against Diaz and Ahumada in the national beauty pageant in 2018.

Since March 2019, González has been training to be part of the Seventh Fire Company of Conchalí. Aside from volunteering as a firefighter, she is also dedicating her time to the social program she developed with migrant women with support of the government of Conchalí.

If González wins Miss Universe 2019, she will be the second titleholder of the international beauty pageant from her country. Chile’s first and still only Miss Universe is Cecilia Carolina Bolocco Fonck, 54, who was crowned in 1987.

The last time Chile placed in Miss Universe was in 2004. Gabriela Barros Tapia, 38, of Valparaiso, Chile made it to the Top 15 at the 53rd edition of Miss Universe, which was held in Quito, Ecuador.

The reigning Miss Universe 2018 is Catriona Gray, 25, of the Philippines. She is the fourth Miss Universe from her country and 67th woman to hold the title.
