After a successful Brave Combat Federation debut, Matheus Nicolau, 26, of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil is focused on helping his girlfriend and fellow Belo Horizonte native Luana Pinheiro, 25. She is set to compete “Brave 26.”
Nicolau made his Brave CF debut at “Brave 25” the Arena Minas Tênis Clube in Belo Horizonte on August 30, 2019. In the co-main event of the evening, he defeated Felipe Efrain, 25, of Sao Paulo, Brazil via unanimous decision in the bantamweight division.
“It was the best debut possible,” Nicolau said. “I won at home in front of my people and at Minas Tênis Clube, where I had fought before. It was amazing to feel the energy emanating from the crowd.”
“Family, friends and fans were all there,” Nicolau continued. “It was awesome. I hope to build on that win and I’m down to fight for the title next.”
Pinheiro was on Nicolau’s corner at “Brave 25.” He will return the favor in her next bout, hoping for a perfect week for the couple.
On September 7, 2019, Brave CF will be at the Coliseo Hernan Jaramillo in Ciudad Salitre, Bogota, Colombia at “Brave 26.” One of the bouts in the main card is between Pinheiro and Yasmeli Araque, 33, of Tovar, Merida, Venezuela in the women’s strawweight division.
“The focus is entirely on helping Luana now. She has a tough fight ahead of her, but we are well-prepared. After that, I want to rest for a bit, and enjoy the victory, which was against a very tough and well-respected opponent.”
“Brave 25” was the first Brave CF event held with the partnership of BR Experience Live and its owner Marcos Ferraz. “Brave 26” will be a co-promotion with Latin Fighter Championship and the collaboration is aimed towards the development of MMA in the region and beyond.
This will be the first time Pinheiro is competing in a professional MMA bout outside Brazil. Here is a “Brave 26” promo:
