Vietnam’s Bi Nguyen earns 1st ONE Super Series win at ‘ONE: Immortal Triumph’ in Ho Chi Minh City

Bi “Killer Bee” Nguyen, 29, of the United States and Vietnam was one of the winners at “ONE: Immortal Triumph.” It was her first victory in ONE Super Series, the striking only league of Singapore-based martial arts organization ONE Championship.

Featuring nine Muay Thai matches and three kickboxing contests, “ONE: Immortal Triumph” took place at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on September 6, 2019. In the seventh bout of the evening, Nguyen faced Puja “The Cyclone” Tomar, 24, of India in a Muay Thai contest in the women’s atomweight division.

Olivier Coste served as the referee. After three three-minute rounds, he raised the hand of Nguyen, who was declared the winner via split decision.

Winning at “ONE: Immortal Triumph” improved the professional Muay Thai record of Nguyen to 1 win and 0 loss. On the other hand, Tomar now has 0 win and 1 loss as a professional Muay Thai fighter while she has 67 wins and 5 losses in professional Wushu.

In professional MMA, Nguyen has 5 wins and 4 losses while Tomar has 4 wins and 3 losses. The Vietnamese-American fighter also has 7 wins and 3 losses in amateur Muay Thai and 1 win and 1 loss in exhibition Muay Thai.

Both Nguyen and Tomar made their ONE Super Series debuts at “ONE: Immortal Triumph.” Nguyen represents Heritage Muay Thai in Houston, Texas, USA while Tomar is training out of Crossfit Fitness Academy in Model Town, North West Delhi, India.

Including the U.S., Vietnam and India, 15 countries were represented at “ONE: Immortal Triumph.” The others were Algeria, Australia, Brazil, France, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Thailand and the United Kingdom.

Tomar solely represented India. Nguyen solely represented the U.S. and was one of the four representatives of Vietnam.

Born on October 30, 1990 to Vietnamese parents, Nguyen was 8 years old when she and her family moved to the U.S. She competed in the 37th season of “Survivor,” making her the first MMA fighter to compete in the CBS reality series.

“ONE: Immortal Triumph” was the first ever ONE Championship event to take place in Vietnam and it featured the organization’s first ever fight card that included striking bouts only. Here is a recap:
