
“No. 1” Nguyễn Trần Duy Nhất, 30, of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam was one of the winners at “ONE: Immortal Triumph.” It was his first victory in ONE Super Series, the striking only league of Singapore-based martial arts organization ONE Championship.
Featuring nine Muay Thai matches and three kickboxing contests, “ONE: Immortal Triumph” took place at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City on September 6, 2019. In the 10th bout of the evening, Nguyễn faced Azwan Che Wil, 24, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in a Muay Thai contest in the flyweight division.
Elias Dolaptsis served as the referee. He put a stop to the flyweight contest after 2 minutes and 45 seconds in the third round.
Winning at “ONE: Immortal Triumph” improved the professional Muay Thai record of Nguyễn to 11 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Azwan now has 35 wins and 12 losses.
A five-time World Muaythai Federation World Champion, Nguyễn made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Immortal Triumph,” which marked the second outing of Azwan in the league. The Vietnamese fighter is a product of Hochiminh City Muay Team while the Malaysian contender is training out of N41 Subang Red Horse Gym.
Including Malaysia and Vietnam, 15 countries were represented at “ONE: Immortal Triumph.” The others were Algeria, Australia, Brazil, France, India, Italy, Japan, Russia, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Azwan was one of the two fighters who represented Malaysia. Nguyễn was one of the four representatives of Vietnam.
After “ONE: Immortal Triumph,” Nguyen will go to the Philippines. The Hochiminh City Muay Team athlete will represent Vietnam at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Born on March 21, 1989, Nguyễn went to Trường Đại Học Thể Dục Thể Thao Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh in Ho Chi Minh City. He studied Huấn Luyện Thể Dục Thể Thao (sports coaching).
