Belal Muhammad earns 7th UFC win, submits out Takashi Sato at ‘UFC 242’ in Abu Dhabi, UAE

Belal “Remember the Name” Muhammad, 31, of Chicago, Illinois, United States was one of the winners at “UFC 242.” It was his seventh victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Featuring 13 mixed martial arts matches, “UFC 242” took place at The Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on September 7, 2019. In the fourth bout of the evening, Muhammad faced Takashi Sato, 29, of Niigata, Japan in the welterweight division.

Viacheslav Kiselev served as the referee. He put a stop to the welterweight contest after 1 minute and 55 seconds in the third round when Muhammad submitted Sato via rear-naked choke.

“I was looking for a finish and I’m glad I got it,” Muhammad said in his post-fight interview. “I want to fight someone ranked next.”

Winning at “UFC 242” improved the professional MMA record of Muhammad to 16 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Taleb now has 15 wins and 3 losses.

Before facing Sato at “UFC 242,” Muhammad defeated six opponents in the UFC. They were Augusto “Dodger” Montaño, 34, of Mexico City, Mexico; Randy “Rude Boy” Brown, 29, of Spanish Town, Jamaica; Jordan “Young Gun” Mein, 29, of Alberta, Canada; Tim “The Dirty Bird” Means, 35, of New Mexico, USA; Chance “Black Eagle” Rencountre, 32, of Oklahoma, USA and Curtis “Curtious” Millender, 31, of California, USA.

Including Japan and the U.S., 13 countries were represented at “UFC 242.” The others were Brazil, Canada, England, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Morocco, Russia, Scotland and South Africa.

Sato solely represented Japan. Muhammad was one of the seven representatives of the U.S.

In the main event of “UFC 242,” reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, 30, of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia successfully defended his belt from then reigning interim UFC Lightweight Champion Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier, 30, of Coconut Creek, Florida, USA. The Dagestani champion submitted his American challenger via rear-naked choke in the third round.
