Ottman “Bulldozer” Azaitar, 29, was one of the winners at “UFC 242.” It was the undefeated German-Moroccan mixed martial artist’s first victory and first bout in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 13 mixed martial arts matches, “UFC 242” took place at The Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on September 7, 2019. In the fifth bout of the evening, Azaitar faced Teemu “Pacu” Packalén, 32, of Turku, Finland in the lightweight division.
Peter Hickmott served as the referee. He put a stop to the lightweight contest after 3 minutes and 33 seconds in the third round when Azaitar knocked out Packalén via punch.
“It was really good out there tonight,” Azaitar said in his post-fight interview. “I don’t usually go for the knockout. I prepared for a 15-minute fight.”
“He came at me and he wanted to know how I could handle pressure,” Azaitar said of Packalén. “I didn’t expect him to make this pressure but he did.”
Winning at “UFC 242” improved the professional MMA record of Azaitar to 12 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Packalén now has 8 wins and 3 losses.
Azaitar was born in Cologne, Germany on February 20, 1990 to Moroccan immigrant parents. He is training out of Jupps Fight Team in Cologne.
Including Finland, Germany and Morocco, 13 countries were represented at “UFC 242.” The others were Brazil, Canada, England, France, Georgia, Japan, Russia, Scotland, South Africa and the United States.
Packalen solely represented Finland. Azaitar was also the sole representative of both Germany and Morocco.
In the main event of “UFC 242,” reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, 30, of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia successfully defended his belt from then reigning interim UFC Lightweight Champion Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier, 30, of Coconut Creek, Florida, USA. The Dagestani champion submitted his American challenger via rear-naked choke in the third round.
