Australian-Cebuano model and Harvard University student Vanessa-Mae Walters, 19, was crowned Miss Teen Eco Philippines 2019 on September 15, 2019. She is the first winner of the title under Miss World Philippines.
Hailing from Mandaue City, Cebu, Walters was crowned as the inaugural Miss Teen Earth on June 8, 2014 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila. She is currently studying Law and Philosophy at the Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States.
Representing Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines, Walters competed in Miss World Philippines 2019 against 39 other candidates. Including the Australian-Cebuano model, only four candidates were qualified for the Miss Teen Eco International Philippines 2019 title.
Five other queens were crowned namely Miss World Philippines 2019 Michelle Marquez Dee, 24, of Makati City, Metro Manila, Miss Eco Philippines 2019 Kelley Day, 22, of Tarlac City, Tarlac, Miss Multinational Philippines Isabelle de Leon , 25,of Quezon City, Metro Manila, Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2019 Maria Katrina Llegado, 21, of Taguig City, Metro Manila and Miss Tourism Philippines 2019 Glyssa Leiann Perez, 24, of Bohol. Shannon Christie Kerver, 22, of Nueva Ecija and Kristi Celyn “Casie” Banks, 24, of Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila were the respective first and second runners-up.
Aside from the Miss Teen Eco International Philippines 2019 title, Walters also won a special award, which was Best in Swimsuit. She made it to the Top 22 by winning the Bench-sponsored Beach Beauty challenge, one of the seven fast track events.
The coronation night of Miss World Philippines 2019, which is the ninth edition of the national beauty pageant, took place at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. During the competition, she wore a gown by Mara Chua.
Miss World 2017 quarterfinalist Laura Lehman, 25, and Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 Winwyn Marquez, 27, hosted the Miss World Philippines 2019 coronation night along with actors Victor Basa, 34, and Edgar Allan Guzman, 30. “Malamaya” star Sunshine Cruz, 42, and Manila mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, 44, were among the judges.
