Khabib Nurmagomedov’s next UFC fight is in Russia?

Undefeated mixed martial artist Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, 30, of Dagestan, Makhachkala, Russia may be fighting in his hometown soon. The reigning lightweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship took to Instagram on September 29, 2019 to give a hint about his next fight.

 

On September 7, 2019, Nurmagomedov defended his UFC Lightweight Championship belt from then reigning interim UFC Lightweight Champion Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier, 30, of Coconut Creek, Florida, United States. The headlined “UFC 242” at The Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Nurmagomedov submitted Poirier in the third round. It was the Dagestani MMA superstar’s 12th victory in the UFC.

On January 20, 2012, Nurmagomedov made his successful UFC debut by submitting Kamal Shalorus via rear-naked choke. The Dagestani fighter went on to defeat his next opponent in the promotion namely Gleison Tibau, 35, of Brazil, Thiago Tavares, 33, of Brazil, Abel “Killa” Trujillo, 34, of the United States, Pat “Bam Bam” Healy, 34, of the U.S., Rafael dos Anjos, 33, of Brazil, Darrell “The Saint” Horcher, 30, of the U.S., Michael “The Menace” Johnson, of the U.S. and Edson Barboza, 32, of Brazil.

On April 7, 2018, Nurmagomedov became the new UFC Lightweight Champion by beating Al Iaquinta, 31, of the U.S. On October 6, 2018, the Dagestani champion successfully defended his belt from former champion Conor “The Notorious” McGregor, 31, of Ireland.

“UFC 242” marked Nurmagomedov’s second successful title defense as the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion. He now holds a professional MMA record of 28 wins and 0 loss.

Born in Sildi, Tsumadinsky, Dagestan on September 20, 1988, Nurmagomedov is a black belt in judo. As an MMA fighter, he has been competing professionally since 2008.

Dagestan is home to several beautiful tourist destinations. Among these are Karadakhskaya Tesnina, Gimry Gorge, the Khanagskiy Waterfall, the Tobot Waterfall, the Culture-Historical Complex Akhoulgo, the Gazebo of Imam Shamil, the Museum of World Culture and Religion History, the Derbent Lighthouse and the Old Kakhib.

The UFC has two previous events held in Russia namely “UFC Fight Night 136” on September 15, 2018 and “UFC Fight Night 149” on April 20, 2019. Its third event in the country will be “UFC Fight Night 163,” which will take place at CSKA Arena in Moscow, Russia on November 9, 2019.
