It was in Japan where Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, 32, of the United States made his successful ONE Championship debut. A week from now, he will return to the country to earn his first championship in the Singapore-based martial arts organization.
“It’s such an honor and a privilege to be able to return to Japan where I made my ONE Championship debut last March,” Johnson stated. “The experience was absolutely amazing.”
ONE Championship will hold a two-part event titled “ONE: Century 世紀” at the Ryōgoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on October 13, 2019, marking the martial arts organization’s 100th live event. In the co-main event of the first part, Johnson will compete in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix grand final against Danny “The King” Kingad, 24, of the Philippines.
“I feel very fortunate to be here once again, this time competing in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship final,” Johnson shared. “I’m sure the fans are excited for all the festivities. The atmosphere at the ONE Martial Arts Fan Fest is buzzing and it perfectly sets the stage for the huge event coming up next week.”
