Janet “JT” Todd, 33, of the United States was one of the winners “ONE: Century 世紀” in Tokyo, Japan. It was the American-Japanese martial artist’s third consecutive victory in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.
“ONE: Century 世紀” was the second ONE Championship event held in Japan and the martial arts organization’s 100th live event. The combat sports event had two parts with 11 bouts each.
Featuring mixed martial arts, Muay Thai and kickboxing matches, “ONE: Century 世紀” took place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo on October 12, 2019. In the ninth bout of the first part, Todd fought Ekaterina “Barbie” Vandaryeva, 28, of Belarus competed in a Muay Thai match in the atomweight division with Atsushi Onari as the referee.
In the first round, Todd tagged Vandaryeva with lightning quick kicks behind her beautiful boxing. The Belarusian contender tried to use her length to stay on the outside but her American-Japanese opponent was too fast and accurate.
In the next round, Todd caught Vandaryeva with a high kick as the Belarussian athlete, who was making her ONE Super Series debut, was backpedalling. After 2 minutes and 29 seconds in the second round, Vandaryeva hit the canvas and Onari called a halt to the contest giving the knockout victory to the American-Japanese fighter.
The victory improved Todd’s professional Muay Thai and kickboxing record to 35 wins and 11 losses. She is training out of Boxing Works.
After an unsuccessful ONE Super Series debut, Todd defeated her next three opponents in the league. Before facing Vandaryeva, the Boxing Works representative defeated two opponents in the league namely Chin Long Wang and Kai Ting Chuang.
On the other hand, Vandaryeva now holds a professional Muay Thai record of 19 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw. She trains at Kick Fighter Gym Belarus.
Including the U.S. and Belarus, a total of 18 countries were represented in the two parts of “ONE: Century 世紀.” The others were Algeria, Brazil, China, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey and Thailand.
