ONE Championship held the official “ONE: Dawn of Valor” open workout at the Syena Martial Arts Center in Jakarta, Indonesia on October 22, 2019. It was attended by eight mixed martial artists including Adrian “Papua Badboy” Mattheis, 26, of Jakarta.
Mattheis is a ONE Strawweight Indonesia Tournament Champion. He is training out of Tigershark Fighting Academy in Jakarta.
The “ONE: Dawn of Valor” fight night will take place at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta on October 25, 2019. One of the matches on the card is a strawweight bout between Mattheis and Stefer “The Lion” Rahardian, 32, of Jakarta, Indonesia.
Rahardian is a ONE Jakarta Flyweight Tournament Champion. He trains out of Bali MMA in Bali, Indonesia and Jakarta Muay Thai and MMA in Jakarta.
“Stefer is a tough fighter and I know that he will be coming into this fight hungry and motivated,” Mattheis stated. “I believe I am more motivated because I need to keep my winning streak going. If I win this fight, I see myself being as one of the top contenders in the division, so I will do my best and make sure that I can get a victory at home.”
Rahardian and Mattheis’s countrymen Eko Roni Saputra, 27, and Priscilla “Thathie” Hertati Lumban Gaol, 31, also took part in the “ONE: Dawn of Valor” open workout. Reigning ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam, 28, of Sweden, Kiamrian “Brazen” Abbasov, 26, of Kyrgyzstan, Kaji “Alpha” Ebin, 26, of Manila, Philippines and Bozhena “Toto” Antoniyar, 24, of Yangon, Myanmar participated, as well.
While Rahardian is riding a four-bout losing streak, Mattheis is coming off four consecutive wins. The Tigershark Fighting Academy representative has been competing professionally since 2016.
Born on May 14, 1993 in the Maluku islands of Indonesia to a family of farmers, Mattheis started training in karate when he was young. “ONE: Dawn of Valor” marks his 14th outing in ONE Championship.
