Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady vs Bubba Jenkins after ‘Brave 29’ in Bahrain?

Abdul-Kareem “Pride of Palestine” Al-Selwady, 23, of Amman, Jordan has experienced being the champion of Brave Combat Federation’s lightweight division. Now, the Jordanian mixed martial artist wants to experience reigning in the Bahrain-based MMA promotion’s featherweight division.

This means Al-Selwady would have to dethrone reigning Brave CF Featherweight World Champion Bubba “Bad Man” Jenkins, 31, of California, United States. It will not be an easy task as the Jordanian MMA star is coming out of a big loss.

Brave CF has given Al-Selwady an opportunity for redemption. The former Brave CF Lightweight Champion will compete at “Brave 29” in Bahrain against Dumar “Corazon de Leon” Roa, 28, of Bogota, Colombia.

Al-Selwady became the Brave CF Lightweight Champion on November 16, 2018. He lost the belt to Luan “Miau” Santiago, 25, of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil at “Brave 23: Pride and Honor” on April 19, 2019 at the Martyr Rashid Al-Ziyoud Hall Boxing Arena in Amman.

On August 30, 2019, Santiago lost the title to Cleiton “Predator” Silva, 33, of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The latter submitted the former at “Brave 25” at the Arena Minas Tênis Clube in Belo Horizonte.

Now, Al-Selwady is making a high-risk, high-reward move for his first fight after losing the title. He has decided to move down to featherweight and will take the first step towards a title shot at “Brave 29.”

Brave CF will hold “Brave 29” at the Khalifa Sports City Arena, Isa Town, Bahrain on November 15, 2019 as part of the Brave International Combat Week. One of the matches is a featherweight bout between Al-Selwady and Roa.

Al-Selwady has taken his diet to slim down very seriously. He wants to eventually challenge Jenkins but before that, the Jordanian athlete has to deal with Roa at “Brave 29.”

“I’m excited to go back to Bahrain where I won my first world title and I’ll be facing Colombian superstar Dumar Roa,” Al-Selwady stated. “(I) can’t wait to go back to Bahrain and put on a show for everyone.”

While in Bahrain, Al-Selwady will cross paths outside of the cage with the man who dethroned him, who is also moving to a different weight division. Santiago is fighting Gadzhimusa “Deadshot” Gaziev, 26, of Dagestan, Russia in the super lightweight division at “Brave 29.”
